About us

A clinic built around complex needs

Our mission is to help children with complex medical conditions find enjoyment and take part in family mealtime safely.

Why we are here

We help children who are non-speaking take part more fully, socially and academically, by teaching them to advocate for their own needs and wants with alternative communication.

What makes this clinic different is the focus on children with the most complex needs and medical histories. That includes any child who has a brain difference that causes weakness or discoordination in the muscles used to chew, drink, swallow, and speak clearly.

Our staff have experience with neurological conditions, developmental disabilities, rare genetic conditions, and medical diagnoses. These include, but are not limited to, cerebral palsy, autism, cortical visual impairment, Down syndrome, Angelman syndrome, extreme prematurity, hypoxic brain injury, Rett syndrome, Fragile X, epilepsy, and global developmental delay.

Values

Safety

We push toward feeding, speech, and language goals while protecting emotional wellbeing and physical safety.

Empowerment and advocacy

Giving your child a voice shows their capacity. We advocate alongside you and help others see their potential.

Collaboration

We meet with your child’s medical and educational teams and work with parents to understand what your child needs.

Education

We train parents to use feeding and AAC strategies at home, because that is where most of the practice happens.

Compassion

We learn the challenges your family faces day to day and recommend what is achievable for you.

Joy

Connection, fun, and laughter create the engagement and motivation that progress needs. We aim for joy in every session.
